Wedding Lion Dances

Lion dances at weddings symbolize good luck and blessings to the couple! Warding off bad luck and encouraging growth and longevity, they traditionally signify a prosperous and happy marriage.

Some helpful things to knowâ€Ķ

The color red, which is often the color of the lion’s fur, represents good luck!

Each lion dance also has a Buddha (åĪ§é ä―›) which accompanies the lion dancer. At your wedding, look out for the Buddha! They will be guiding the lions to you (or vice versa!)

The orange and lettuce represent wealth and fortune. The lions will eat the lettuce off the stick you hold, and then throw (or hand) the oranges and lettuce (aka the blessings) onto you.
